Sunday’s edition of the New York Times Great Homes and Destinations section featured the Amangiri Resort and Spa at Lake Powell by Aman Resorts.

The article was short, but to the point. The resort is scheduled to open in early 2009 with 34 guest suites and 31 private ownership villas. Currently eight of the villas are for sale and will be built as the buyers select the property. Lots range from 1.3 to 10 acres while the entire project sits on 600 acres.

I would think many people have wondered, why here? As the word gets out about our area the answer to that will become apparent. This is one of the greatest visual places on earth with easy access to National Parks, National Recreation areas, National Forests, National Wilderness Areas – in other words there is just not much in the way of development within 2.5 hours in any direction. Add in Lake Powell being just a stones throw away and you have the perfect get-away-from-it-all recreation, relaxation spot.

All of this gives new meaning to prime real estate. If the resort has any effect on the Lake Powell Real Estate market as a whole, only time will tell.

Stay tuned for more information on the coming Amangiri Resort and Spa at Lake Powell.

The Lake Powell area is one of true beauty and recreational opportunities (hate to sound like a commercial – but I love it!). Look around my website and click on the Lake Powell tab on the side bar for Lake information.

I am starting a new series called Lake Powell Answers which will be a combination of videos, photos and writing about our area. Stay tuned for that…..
