Houseboating, hiking, camping and fishing are some popular activities on Lake Powell and in the recreation area. Garbage is a never ending issue as it must be hauled out to a local dump site. Recycling at the lake has just gotten easier…..
Lake Powell received 17 new recycling trailers which are located throughout Glen Canyon National Recreation area. Primarily they are located at the marinas and launch ramps of Wahweap, Stateline, Antelope Point, Dangling Rope, Hite and Halls Crossing.
The trailers are for community use as well as park visitors and are being provided for as a joint venture between Aramark Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas and The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which is managed by the National Park Service.
The new trailers are brightly colored and divided into sections for aluminum, cardboard, plastic, and glass. Recycling bins have previously been located throughout the park but were smaller and getting old.
With the addition of the new recycling program in Page, AZ, the Page Lake Powell area should see a large increase in material being shipped out to be recycled.
Next time I am down at Wahweap I’ll take a few photos and post to our Media section.
