For the past couple of months Disney – Pixar’s production of John Carter of Mars has taken over Big Water, UT by Lake Powell. Storage spaces, vacant lots, the desert behind my house and most free space is being utilized for the movie, with props visible behind boat storage fences.
While I don’t want to put any photos of up of what can be seen of the set from my house, which is a huge green screen area, there are some area photos I would like to share.
The Moon – a popular Lake Powell area has been our stomping grounds for years – the place where my son found numerous dinosaurs and plesiosaur remains – is now the main back drop for Barsoom.
These photos are of one part of the moon with the balancing rocks. Enjoy! These were taken from a moving vehicle on the way to Alstom Point – More Photos to Follow!
