Lake Powell, 186 miles long, 560 feet deep when full with 96 major side canyons and just about 2000 miles of shoreline ~ what a pristine, beautiful playground!
The main launch ramps at Lake Powell are Wahweap Marina in AZ and Stateline Marina in Utah. Both of these launch into Wahweap Bay. The main route uplake ( to see the 186 miles of it) is through the Cut at Castle Rock saving some 12 miles (on the main channel) to get to the next big bay – Warm Creek and points further. This year, with record water inflows, the Caste Rock Cut has 50 feet of water in it – as of today!
I stopped on my way home and snapped a couple of pictures of The Cut.
In the second photo, a local Raven was hanging around and just trying to get his photo taken, so i obliged!
Also in the photos – the water in the front is Wahweap Bay while the water seen behind is Warm Creek Bay and to the right is the cut at Castle Rock.
As a side note – Castle Rock was Mount Sinai in The Greatest Story Ever Told!
