The Monsoon season in the Lake Powell area started out kind of slow this year but has really turned out great. David Rankin, my son, chases flash floods in the area and also reports to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake. Much of this work is designed to help predict the size, location and timing of flash floods.
I have posted about flash floods in our area and on August 18 I was able to get some pretty good still photos which I’ll put up.
This video has an introduction to where David is, which is standing at the confluence of three washes in Southern Utah ~ Coyote Wash, Wahweap Wash, and Nipple Wash. All of these end up in Lake Powell and carry a lot of debris.
